I know, I know. There is a lot of activity regarding the Final Fantasy series at the moment. The countdown for XV is agonising, and it seems like every 5 minutes there’s some form of remaster. However, can we just take a look at the latest screenshots for World of Final Fantasy?
World of Final Fantasy brings all the best parts of the Final Fantasy universe and wraps them up in a super-cute exterior. I mean, just look at this Chocobo!
Cuteness overload aside, World of Final Fantasy allows you to roam around a new environment exploring and battling monsters from all over the series. Just from a glance you can see the main influences are the earlier titles (and of course Final Fantasy VII).
Our main characters are twins; Reynn and Lann. The siblings can adjust their size, turning small enough to jump onto the monsters during combat, or vice versa, shrink the monsters small enough to ride on the twins.
While Square are pumping out an endless supply of Final Fantasy games, what’s great about this game is that anyone can join in. You don’t need to know the lore of the series to have fun. It does look like a “best of” compilation to get newcomers into the series.
Coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, World of Final Fantasy will launch on 28th October. You can pre order the game through Amazon in the UK or via the PlayStation store in your respective country. There’s also a lovely collectors edition on the Square Enix store.
If you do purchase the Day One edition (let’s face it, I am), you’ll get a selection of extra digital bonus content, including Sephiroth summon, white chocobo, glow moogle and red bonnetberry, as well as Japanese voice-over. I’d expect these to become chargeable at a later date.
